Nostradamus and the Antichrist
According to both Erika Cheetham and John Hogue, the following
quatrains could very well refer to the Antichrist. Cheetham sees
connections between Nostradamus' use of the word Brodde
and translates it as meaning either black or dark brown
or decadent. Hogue senses great meaning in the enigmatic
Mabus in terms of the Antichrist.
Erika Cheetham writes, "...seven great disasters have
to accumulate and come together to give warning of its [the prophesied
"Millennium" of Nostradamus] actual coming and of the
Third Antichrist. Phenomena such as showers of blood, Saturn
in a bad aspect, and war together with some great evil affecting
the Vatican and the Papacy and a naval war are all portents.
Nostradamus intended for the reader to take note of these events
and to try to halt them, but the way the world is going this
tragically seems unlikely." Check out Nostradamus' Signs

impressions could well be more accurate than those that follow.
Century 1, Quatrain 50
De l'aquatique triplicité naistra,
D'vn qui fera le Ieudy pour sa feste:
Son bruit, loz, regne, sa puissance croistra,
Par terre & mer aux Oriens tempeste.
From the three water signs will be born a man
who will celebrate Thursday as his feast day.
His renown, praise, rule and power will grow
on land and sea, bringing trouble to the East.
Cheetham: Describes a person born with the signs of Aries,
Cancer, and Aquarius; presumably not a member of any of the modern
religions of today; takes Thursday as a holy day.
Century 2, Quatrain 30
Vn qui les dieux d'Annibal infernaux,
Fera renaistre, effrayeur des humains.
Oncq' plus d'horreur ne plus pire iournaux,
Qu'auint viendra par Babel aux Romains.
One who the infernal gods of Hannibal
Will cause to be reborn, terror of all mankind
Never more horror nor the newspapers tell of worse in the past,
Than will come to the Romans through Babel (Iraq).
Cheetham: Eternal gods of Hannibal means North Africa or
the Middle East; there comes forth a man who will bring trouble
to the whole world; the last line may refer to the collapse of
the Catholic Church.
Hogue: Nostradamus may be hinting that the Third Antichrist
[The first was Napoleon; the second was Hitler.] comes from a
modern day region in North Africa or the Middle East; the concept
of newspapers was unheard of in the time of Nostradamus; perhaps
it refers to terrorism in the headlines.
Century 2, Quatrain 62
Mabus plustost alors mourra, viendra,
De gens & bestes vn horrible defaite:
Puis tout à coup la vengeance on verra,
Cent, main, faim quand courra la comete.
Mabus then will soon die, there will come
A horrible slaughter of people and animals:
At once vengeance is revealed coming from a hundred hands,
Thirst and hunger when the comet will run.
Cheetham: Is "Mabus" an anagram for the Antichrist?
Hogue: "Mabus" is one of Nostradamus' most famous
prophetic enigmas; may provide a clue to the name and identity
of the third and final Antichrist; it may already be too late
to decode and prevent "its" terrible destiny; the final
line dates the beginning of his legacy of terror around the time
of the appearance of a comet. [Halley? Hale-Bopp? Both Hogue
and Cheetham use Halley's Comet as THE signpost; however, at
the time that they were writing, they had no knowledge of the
splendor of the Hale-Bopp Comet -- 1996-1997.]
[The following quatrains are presented here without "professional"
interpretation except for minor adjustments to the translations.
They are often interpreted as referring to the Antichrist or
the time of the Third Antichrist.]
Century 2, Quatrain 89
Vn iour seront demis les deux grands maistres,
Leur grand pouuoir se verra augmenté:
La terre neuue sera en ses hauts estres,
Au sanguinaire le nombre racompté.
One day the two great leaders will become friends
(and/or "halved, split"),
Their great power will be seen to increase:
The new land will be at the height of its power (America),
To the bloody one the numbers are reported.
Century 4, Quatrain 95
Le regne à deux l'aissé bien peu
tiendront,
Trois ans sept mois passez feront la guere
Les deux Vestales contre rebelleront,
Victor puisnay en Armenique terre.
The rule will be left to two (Russia and America?);
they will hold it for a very short time.
Three years and seven months passed, they will go to war:
Their two vassals rebel against them,
The victor is born on American soil.
Century 8, Quatrain 77
L'antechrist trois bien tost anniehilez,
Vingt & sept ans sang durera sa guerre.
Les heretiques mortz, captifs, exilez.
Sang corps humain eau rougi gresler terre.
The Antichrist very soon annihilates the three,
Twenty-seven years the blood of his war will last.
The unbelievers are dead, captive, exiled;
With blood, human bodies, water and red hail covering the earth.
Century 10, Quatrain 66
Le chef de Londres par regne l'Americh,
L'Isle d'Escosse tempiera par gelee:
Roy Reb auront vn si faux Antechrist,
Que les mettra trestous dans la meslee.
The chief of London through the realm of America,
The Isle of Scotland will be tried by frost:
King and "Reb" will face an Antichrist so false, [or
"Roy Reb" or "Reb the King"]
That he will place them all into the conflict.
